Welcome to the Louisiana Master Naturalist Association, Northwest Chapter website!

Naturalists are students of natural history.  Master Naturalists are citizens who have taken the time to go through a formal training program covering diverse aspects of the ecosystem they are a part of, and then volunteer to pass that information along to others.

Many people are drawn to the program to learn more about an interest they already have, such as bird-watching or trees and shrubs.  Some Naturalists are young adults, some are much older.  The common thread is valuing our ecosystem, and being willing to devote time to conservation through education.

To become a Master Naturalist, you must attend courses held here in the Ark-La-Tex, pass an exam and pay modest dues.  To continue being a Master Naturalist, you must participate in continuing education each year, and volunteer in the community in ways that forward peoples’ interest in and understanding of nature.

There are several chapters around the State, and we are united under a State board.  Visit the links in the menu above to learn more!
