Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering and education are the core of being a Master Naturalist.  For naturalists (and others!) wishing to find opportunities to volunteer, we will post helpful information here as frequently as possible.

If you are coordinating or hosting an event that you think furthers our goals, and would like to make naturalists aware of a volunteer opportunity, you may use our Request a Naturalist page.

While many events for 2017 are still to be announced, there are various organizations that have events throughout the year that qualify for volunteer hours.  Some of these organizations and venues are listed below.  Check out their web sites and event calendars or contact them directly for more information.

The following entites’ volunteer opportunities have been pre-approved by the Volunteer Hours Committee.  You may research their respective event calendars directly, and sign up for opportunities that seem relevant to you.

The Volunteer Hours and Continuing Education Committee has the discretion to approve what types of events and activities qualify as valid hours toward maintaining certification.  While the committee does have a list of pre-qualified events, just because an event is not listed does not mean that it may not be approved.  The committee’s goal is to foster the goal of the Association by encouraging as much volunteering as possible.  Essentially, qualifying hours need to promote or forward public interest and awareness of Louisiana’s ecosystem.  If you are considering volunteering at an event, and are in question as to whether you think it may qualify, simply contact a committee member and ask.
